By nature, brewing beer is a collaborative process. And we make a concerted effort to collaborate with fellow Whidbey Island businesses to craft our beer. Our Lavenderwind Saison, released in Spring of 2021, is just another example of how great friends make great beer.
Situated in Ebey’s Landing National Reserve, Lavender Wind Farm has been planting fields of purple on Whidbey Island since 2000. Farm Owner, Sarah Richards, has been utilizing the herb for a host of hand-made products from culinary oils and rubs to soaps and cosmetics which are sold in the company’s boutique storefront and giftshop in historic Coupeville.
Penn Cove Brewing Co. co-founder and brewer, Marc Aparicio visited Lavender Winds in spring of 2021 and after one whiff, was determined to use a batch of the farm’s lavender to craft a new beer recipe, leading way to our Lavenderwind Saison. Get know the minds behind the beer in our latest video.
